I've made a choice..

Alright everyone! I think I made a choice about this airport swine flu stuff. I was never overly comfortable with Addie going, I asked my awesome friend April to watch Addie. Her being the wonderful person she is she said of course. Brian and I are just going to go. I think I am more comfortable with it that way. As Adult we are so much more aware of what we are doing and touching. I will be ready to strike with my bottle of Purel at any moment. I will definitely ask them before we go how they are feeling and if they have any symptoms, and to please wash their hands well. I really want to see them and I think we will be okay. We will definitely wash hands and stuff before and after we see them. It's not like we are going to be making out or anything with them.

Do I, Do I not??

I know this is going to sound like I am totally over reacting but I worry a lot. Long story short. My brother and his wife planned a trip a long time ago for Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. They left last Friday and we returning this Friday. They have a layover here in Phoenix for 3 hours. We told them that we would love to come and have dinner with them at the airport while they wait. With all this Swine Flu news do you think we should still go? I am not so much worried about Brian and I but more so Addie. I know it sounds crazy but if you think about it who knows if someone on the plane could have it or heaven forbid one of them have it and give it to Addie. If it were you and your child would you still meet up with your family members that just spent a week in Mexico? I know i will totally get some eye rolls over this but my job is to protect my child, that's what I am trying to do. Any honest input would be awesome! Thanks so much!!

Silly Girl!

Before we left on our trip to San Diego Addie had woke up at 5 a.m. one morning. I put on a movie in her room and told her to stay in bed and watch the movie. I know, mom of the year. After the movie was over she came in our room and this is what she had on...

That is a white undershirt, 10 pairs of panties, tights, and a pair of socks....Crazy child!

Graduation Weekend!

Wow! What a busy weekend! We headed out to San Diego on Thursday afternoon. We went to lunch at one of our favorite places then headed down to Balboa Park to have some family pictures taken by Mike. ( I will do another post when I get the photos from that and more from Brian's graduation) Saturday is when the craziness began. Brian and I headed to the convention center at noon. I was the seat saver for 10 people. The room the graduation was in was amazing! It was call the Sails room. It was almost like a sun room. The ceremony was great. It was such an overwhelming feeling for me. It has been a long road and I am so proud of Brian.
His tassel that hung from his cap
The program for the ceremony
Yay!! It's official!
Mr. Graduate himself!

After the graduation we headed back to Glor's house for the grad party she had planned for Brian. It was so much fun to have everyone get together. Most of his friends were able to come, he was very excited to see everyone again. A BIG thanks to everyone who came near and far to be there for Brian. I know it meant so much to him to have you there!

The cake! I had to do something different and I knew Brian would love it!

Sunday before we headed out of town we went down to Mission Beach to have lunch and Cane's ( they have the best chicken fingers and fries ever) then we wandered around on the beach for a bit.

Holy crap!

There's bike riding, and then there's this. This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on a bike.

My yesterday...

Be glad you weren't anywhere near my house yesterday. As Addie and I were getting ready to leave and go swimming with April and her girls I was doing my hair and Addie came up to me with a bunch of clear liquid stuff on her hands and feet. I asked her what it was and she said "yucky stuff" then told me to follow her. I rounded the corner by the stairs there I saw it, two big spots covering about 3 feet of our cream carpet (not my choice)  of liquid laundry soap. Next to the slime mess was the empty bottle that about 2 minutes before that was full and brand new. I was in complete shock and didn't even know what to do. I called April to tell her we wouldn't be swimming today. She told me to bring Addie over and she would let her swim then she could hang out with them for the afternoon so I can get the mess cleaned up. I weighed my options with what to do, I decided to get a Rug Doctor. After close to 2 hours of going over the spots it finally seemed that most of the soap was out. While I had the machine I clean a few of our high traffic areas upstairs also. All I have to say is what a day! Thanks April for once again being a total life saver. I am so lucky to call you my friend. I love you tons!

Seriously??

I have to share my irritation. Today we hit 100 degrees. Seriously? Why? It's April not June or July. It shouldn't be that hot already, but what am I thinking? We live in ARIZONA. Save us all!

Easter Weekend!

Easter weekend we went and spent it in Yuma with Brian's dad Bruce, his girl friend Adell and her family. One of Adell's daughters has a little girl that is 6. Addie got along great with her, they had a blast playing together.

On Saturday afternoon we dyed eggs, the girls got pretty into it.

Rockin the ears!
All the colored eggs
She found her basket the Easter bunny left for her. She was SO excited he left her BOLT she has wanted that movie for a while now.

Let the hunt begin!

Showing off all the eggs she found.
Enjoying a hard boiled egg in HUGE bites!

Papa Bruce got Addie this bubble maker thing and she thought it was super funny!
Swimming...it was windy and the water was cold so it didn't last too long.
Going for a golf cart ride with the dads! The girls LOVED it!

In her Easter dress Mimi got it for her.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

New blog!

I saw this lady Heather Armstrong on Oprah a few days ago when they were having a show about moms and the feelings that come with being a mom....blah blah blah. it was a really good REAL outlook on what being a mom is and how HARD it is. Anyways, I guess this chick Heather has a pretty huge following on her blog dooce.com. Me being the person I am I had to check it out. She is VERY VERY honest about everything. She has a 5 year old daughter and is 8 months prego now. I am now a fan of her blog. FYI either you will love it or hate it. I just had to share for those of you that will love it.

5:30 a.m.!

After me not getting to bed till after 1 a.m. my lovely daughter decided that 5:30 a.m. was a great time to wake up and STAY awake. I am hoping that I will get some crazy burst of energy cause I have a lot I need to do before we head out of town for the Easter weekend this afternoon. I'm in for a interesting morning!

Swim Lessons

With summer coming up right around the corner Brian and I thought now would be a good time to put Addie in swim lessons. We got a pretty good deal through the YMCA because we are members. It is crazy to see how different Addie is in groups of kids. She is VERY shy, and just sits and watches everything. She is slowly warming up to the teachers but for the most part she is very shy. She is doing great in the swim lessons, we are hoping that this summer will be the one that she will be able to actually swim.

Waiting for Ricky to tell her to get in the pool.

Singing Ring Around the Rosey.

Kicking and blowing bubbles..

More kicking and her teacher Ricky.

Working on kicking, using arms, and blowing bubbles..

On the way back to the step..

Yay for swim lessons!

Yay for visitors!

My sister Chris called me when we were in Disneyland and asked if she could come visit this week. Of course I said YES! I miss her so much! She came in on Wednesday evening and left tonight. We had a great visit. I love having her around and feeling like I don't have to be anything but me. She totally gets me and I get her, I love having a sister. We always have a blast together and this trip wasn't any different. She is my best friend, and has been there for me through everything. I love you Chris, thanks for coming out!

We were even able to seek away for a little bit on Friday night to have some girl time..

Addie LOVES her Aunt Chris. She even got to have her as her snuggle buddy for a few nights.

On Saturday we went to Tempe Town Lake and watched a wake boarding competition. The weather was amazing and we all enjoyed watching all the excitement.

After we took Chris to the airport we decided to take Addie to the park to run around and play. She loves playing in the sand and I found a new sand toy for her at Target for 2 bucks. She had a great time!

So I don't normally do this but...

I just finished watching Slumdog Millionaire and I can't help but wonder what others feelings are on the movie.  I must admit I didn't really expect the ride that it takes you on throughout the movie, and for the most part it was a good movie, but I still have lingering mixed emotions about the movie in general.  While I would say it was a good movie, I don't know that I would say it was movie of the year material and I still don't think its in the same class as Requiem for a Dream, Crash, or Traffic.  The one thing I will say though, is that the story was captivating and had me wanting more up to the very end despite the fact that it wasn't a very "happy" movie in general.  I guess that's a sign of good writing though right?

Anyway, for those of our readers who have read it, I would love to hear your take on the movie because I find myself in a "didn't love it, didn't hate it" situation and I really do enjoy hearing why other people loved it or hated it.  Sometimes they help you see things you didn't catch in a movie and can bring different perspectives into focus.  I look forward to hearing some responses   :)
